Amsterdam

We took a trip to Amsterdam this past weekend. It was a nice and interesting little trip. We went to the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh museum, the Heineken Experience, and the Rijksmuseum. We did some window shopping as we walked along the streets. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and for breakfast the next day we ate at Sara's Pancake House which was yummy! Amsterdam is quite an interesting city because they are so free to do whatever they want out there, but overall we had a good trip.

Our Huis (House) in Belgium

We have finally settled into our house in Belgium. We live in a little city called Bree. It is a nice little city with many shops and things to do. There is an outside market that comes to town every Friday which I am looking forward to going to. Our landlord said the house was built at the turn of the century and that is why it is so old. Most of the inside is remolded. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms. It may sound small but the bedrooms are rather large. There are four sets of stairs, but we mainly use just two sets. The backyard is spacious and very beautiful and the landlords do all the yard work! We are enjoying it so far and we hope people will come visit us!! (Hint, hint family and friends...)

6 months old

I cannot believe that Emma is 6 months old already! Time sure does go by quickly! She is growing and becoming more active all the time. She is a pro at rolling over, she is sitting up better but still needs assistance, she enjoys eating baby food, and she is blabbing a lot! Matt swears she is saying, "Daddy," but I tell him it's just baby talk. :)

Remembering Their Sacrifice...

Yesterday we went to Bastonge, Belgium which was where the Battle of the Bulge took place during WWII. We visited the Ardennes American Cemetery where 5,328 American soldiers are buried. Many of these soldiers lost their lives during the Battle of the Bulge. Another memorial that was saw was the Mardasson Memorial. This memorial is a tribute from the Belgians to the Americans for helping to liberate their country during WWII. We also visited a little town called La Roche-en-Ardenne. They have a WWII museum there that we toured. This town was captured twice by the Germans and liberated twice by the allies. This town suffered severe damage from the war. Some of the buildings that survived were the medieval castle and the church. It was very humbling to be able to see the places where so many brave soldiers fought and even lost their lives for their country. It is a good reminder that freedom is not free.

Bonjour!

Greetings from Paris! This past weekend we took a last minute trip to Paris. There was a group from the base going and they had a last minute cancelation, so Matt took the slot and signed us up to go. Paris is only about 4 hours away from us so the drive was not too long. We saw most of the major sites in Paris... The Eiffel Tower, The Arch of Triumph, The Louvre, Notre Dame. It was VERY crowded there, so it was hard to get to go inside anything because the line were outrageously long! Maybe going there during the week would be better. The food we had was pretty good. We had a hot dog in a baguette for lunch and for dinner I had a ham and cheese crepe... yum! Despite the crowds and Matt and I getting separated on the metro, it was a pretty good trip.

7 Years Ago...

It's hard to believe that it has already been 7 years since we were married. Time certainly flies by! We aren't going to be doing anything special for our anniversary because first of all we are in a town in which we are not familiar with and cannot speak the language and second, we don't have our car yet to drive anywhere. Which is fine with me, as long as we are together... that's all that matters. :) Love you!
